Instructions for Rehydrating Dehydrated Sourdough Starter

Instructions for Rehydrating Sourdough Starter

Day 1: Put the dehydrated sourdough starter in a quart sized jar with 15 grams of water and leave in a warm place with a cloth jar cover in place or a paper towel and rubber band.

Day 2: Add 20 grams of flour and 20 grams of water to the rehydrated starter and leave in a warm place with a cloth jar cover in place or a paper towel and rubber band.

Day 3: Repeat day 2’s instructions

Day 4: Your starter may have some bubbles or little holes throughout indicating that it is active.  Begin to feed with approximately 1/2 C of flour and 1/4 C warm water.

Day 5: Discard about 1/2 of your starter and feed with approximately 1/2 C of flour and 1/4 C warm water.

When your starter is active (bubbly and doubling in size after feeding), you are ready to bake!
